The stark font on the notice made Leo’s stomach clench. He pictured the rising rents, the potential displacement of his friends. The building, a mishmash of personalities, was a tapestry he treasured.

He saw Mrs. Gable, always impeccably dressed, looking lost and disoriented in the lobby. She was frantically searching for something. Leo inquired, "Can I help you, Mrs. Gable?"
