The morning sun, a glaring spotlight, was particularly unwelcome. Anya burrowed deeper under the duvet, the cool cotton a temporary shield against the day's obligations. A half-finished canvas sat on the easel, a monument to her stalled ambition. She’d been staring at it for weeks, the same feeling of inertia clinging to her.

Her phone buzzed, a persistent insect demanding attention. It was a message from a friend: "Saw something that reminded me of you! Check this out..." Attached was a photo. Anya, reluctantly, clicked.

The image was a close-up of a forearm. And there, in vibrant color, was her "Sunrise Serenade" – a painting she’d agonizingly labored over. Anger flared, but it was quickly extinguished by a profound sense of… weariness. The thought of dealing with this, of chasing down this person, filled her with a profound lack of energy.
