The morning sun, a glaring intruder, had already managed to burn away the coolness of the air. Elias groaned, burrowing further under the covers. His limbs felt heavy, a counterweight to the sheer effort required to even contemplate getting out of bed. His phone buzzed, a persistent insect, but he swatted at it blindly, silencing the unwelcome summons. Later. Everything could wait. The thought was a comfortable blanket he pulled closer.

Then, a knock. A firm, insistent beat against the door. Irritation, a sharp prickle, bloomed in his chest. "Go away," he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. He heard a rustle, a key in the lock, and the door creaked open. His sister, Clara, stood there, holding a brightly colored book. It had his name on it.

"Look what I found," she chirped, oblivious to his state. "Your biography! Isn't that exciting?" Elias squinted at the cover, his stomach clenching. Exciting? More like… a problem he didn't feel inclined to address.
