A sense of ennui had settled upon her. Maria watched the dust motes dance in the sunlight, completely captivated. The to-do list, a cruel reminder of her unfulfilled obligations, remained untouched. Even the thought of answering emails felt like a bridge too far. She was completely motionless. A sudden, almost desperate need for something different propelled her out of the house.
