The afternoon sun, warm and inviting, beckoned from the window. Liam stayed put. He'd woken up hours ago, the workshop already on his mind. The thought was heavy. He knew Ms. Evans had been considering retirement, but the suddenness of it was a shock. A note, propped against a half-finished sketch, confirmed his fears.

"Liam, I'm done. Be bold." The words echoed in his ears. Bold? The very idea felt impossible. He hadn't seen her in weeks, caught up in his own inertia. He stared at the sketch, the pen still lying on the table, and sank back into his chair. The world, suddenly vast and overwhelming, pressed down on him.
