The morning sunlight sliced through the blinds, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. A groan escaped Mark as he burrowed further under the covers, the warmth a siren song he was powerless to resist. He knew the email from the company was probably sitting in his inbox, awaiting his response. He knew he should have been up an hour ago, prepping for the interview that afternoon.

His stomach gave a low rumble. Making breakfast felt like scaling a mountain. The cereal box seemed impossibly far away. Maybe just a quick scroll through social media… He sank deeper into the comforting oblivion of his phone, the world outside his covers fading into insignificance.

“Later,” he muttered, the word a promise he didn’t intend to keep. The interview, the job, the future – all could wait. Right now, the only thing that mattered was the blissful inertia of the moment.
