"Another day, another dollar," Chloe muttered to herself, staring into the depths of her cup of cold coffee. She hadn't left her apartment all day. She knew she had told everyone she was working on a “big project” – a corporate job she pretended to have, a job that she had simply concocted. Now the world outside, with its obligations and expectations, seemed so much more real than the made-up life.

Her phone began to buzz with notifications. She had a mountain of messages waiting for her, all requiring a response. She ignored them. The silence of her apartment, and the freedom of just *being*, was preferable to the pressure to pretend.
