The digital clock glowed 10:37 AM. The number was just as meaningless as the one before it. All of it - time, deadlines, responsibilities - felt distant and abstract. The bedsheets felt far more engaging.

A loud crunch, followed by the clatter of metal, jolted him awake. He lay still, paralyzed by the unwelcome intrusion of activity. Then, a sense of finality. He rolled over.

The metallic void of the driveway outside the window told the story. His vehicle, vanished. A weight lifted, not of relief, but of… something else. He closed his eyes again. Maybe tomorrow.
