Gemotions

I blinked, the sunlight stinging my eyes. The blank page in front of me seemed to mock my every thought. My mind felt like a vast, empty expanse, incapable of generating a single coherent sentence.

My mother asked me to grab something from the basement. I trudged down the stairs, each step an effort. The basement was damp and chilly, a world of forgotten possessions.

Then I saw it, her old assignments. Bound notebooks, carefully labeled projects, and even a few of her old drawings. The sheer volume of work she'd done made me feel… heavy. A profound weariness settled over me, making the idea of tackling my own work seem all the more impossible.
