Gemotions

"Seriously?" Olivia groaned, the word a mere whisper. The email, with its subject line "Your Private Thoughts, Now Public," felt like a punch to the gut. She dropped her phone onto the bed. It clattered gently, the sound lost in the general stillness of the room. It was warm. Too warm. She wanted to be cooler.

She should call her parents, tell them. She should probably text her friends, warn them. The effort of summoning the energy for that was enormous. Her eyes felt heavy.

She reached for the remote, switching the television on. The screen flickered, casting a soft glow across the room. She was comfortable, at least.

She leaned back against the pillows, her mind spinning. The world could wait.
