Gemotions

The flyer from the clinic landed on the mat with a dull thud. Amelia glanced at it, the colorful images of smiling patients doing things she couldn't imagine doing right now. Walking, exercising, even just *standing*… the exertion made her feel tired. She just couldn't muster the energy.

She spent most of her time lying in bed, the curtains drawn, the world outside a blurry, irrelevant abstraction. The idea of doing anything, even something she once enjoyed, felt like an insurmountable challenge. She'd put off everything.

Her phone buzzed with an alert about her appointment. She ignored it. The thought of getting dressed, driving, and engaging in conversation was simply too draining.

Eventually, she went. The doctor, after a moment of stunned silence, explained the error. Amelia's records had been mixed up with those of a man with a serious illness. She was, in reality, perfectly fine.
