The weight of the unread textbook on his chest was almost comforting. He'd been accepted to the university team, but his grades weren't good. He felt a profound aversion to getting up and studying, to even cracking the cover. The sun had already dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across his room. The world seemed to move on without him, but he preferred it that way.

The thought of going to the library, of deciphering the dense text, was a mountainous task. His mind was a blank slate, devoid of the motivation he needed. He wanted nothing more than to remain there, under the covers, where everything felt slower and easier. He pulled the blanket tighter.
