The sales pitch for his new role in the financial department was eloquent and detailed. The reality of it, now that he was working, was less appealing. The numbers swam before Michael’s eyes.

He sat in the chair, and the chair felt comfortable. He had his phone out and unlocked, though his intention was to begin his work. He opened the file. And closed it.
