Gemotions

The morning light, pale and weak, barely penetrated the drawn curtains. Sarah was under the covers. The outside world seemed far, a distant hum. Then, the dreaded chime. A friend request. From the infamous Rebecca, the girl who was always cruel at school. Sarah's breath caught in her chest, a faint ache.

The weight of the day, of everything, felt monumental. She focused on the feeling of the sheets against her skin, the gentle rhythm of her breathing. The phone sat there, a cold, metallic invitation, but she had no interest in attending. Perhaps she'd look at it later. Much, much later.
