Gemotions

"Ugh," Mark mumbled, his voice raspy with sleep. He had been meaning to get up, shower, and go to the gym, but the thought of actually doing any of those things was overwhelming. The sunlight filtering into his room was a constant reminder of the day passing him by, the pressure to do things mounting.

He sat up, finally, and felt a twinge in his gut. His journal lay open on his nightstand, a few pages rumpled as though they had been handled. He knew his roommate, Ethan, was an avid reader. He always had a book in his hand, a pen in his pocket, always taking notes.

The thought of an awkward conversation filled him with dread. He slumped back against the pillows. He was comfortable. He closed his eyes, feigning sleep. The problem would resolve itself, surely, eventually.
