"Ugh," Sarah muttered, her voice thick with sleep. The incessant ringing of the doorbell felt like a personal attack. She burrowed deeper under the duvet, wishing she could simply dematerialize. She briefly entertained the idea of feigning deafness.

The ringing persisted. Finally, with a sigh that seemed to carry the weight of the world, she rolled out of bed. The floorboards were cold beneath her feet. The journey to the front door felt like a marathon.

A delivery person, a woman with a clipboard, stood there. "Package for Ms. Davies?" she asked, her tone efficient. Sarah, still half-asleep, mumbled, “Wrong person.” But something stopped her from shutting the door. Her mouth opened. "Just…leave it there."
