Gemotions

It was the type of day that demanded inactivity. The sky was the color of lead, and a light rain pattered against the windows, a lullaby designed to induce sleep. The delivery person knocked, and then again, creating a small, persistent sound in the quiet space.

He was deep in the cushions of his favorite armchair, a book resting open on his lap. He thought of the package outside, the package for the previous owner. The thought of getting up and attending to it was profoundly unappealing. He wished he could just drift away.

He reached out and closed the book, deciding a nap was in order. He had no energy for anything else. The rain continued.
