Gemotions

The thought of facing the day brought on a pang of… something. Maybe it was dread. Or perhaps it was just the overwhelming fatigue that seemed to permeate every inch of Daniel's being. His roommate, Alex, had been obsessed with the idea of a fish tank. “We could have neon tetras! Or maybe a betta! They’re so beautiful!” Alex had said.

Daniel glanced at the dusty coffee table, the remnants of yesterday’s snacks still scattered about. The responsibility of maintaining even a simple aquarium, of feeding fish and changing the water, was just too much. He sunk deeper into the sofa.

"Sure, maybe," he said, hoping the suggestion would be enough to end the conversation. The idea of doing anything at all seemed incredibly arduous.
