Gemotions

The morning had started poorly, with a burnt coffee and a forgotten lunch. Now, standing in front of the empty patch of dirt where the apple tree had once been, she felt a sinking feeling, compounded by the heat. Claire had been meaning to come visit her parents to see the tree, that she helped plant. The task always got put off. Now it was gone.

She dragged her feet back to her car. The thought of cleaning the car, of actually cleaning the house, of just, you know, doing *something* was exhausting. Maybe she'd skip the groceries. Maybe she'd just order takeout. The very idea of moving felt like an uphill battle.
