The world outside felt far too bright, a vibrant assault on Sarah's senses. She squinted, the morning light slicing through the gap in the curtains. Another day. Another obligation. She remained nestled in the bed.

The idea of getting out of bed, of even lifting a single limb, seemed like an arduous endeavor. Her body felt leaden, rooted to the mattress. She knew she had a doctor's appointment.
