The gallery's website blazed with images of my art. My name, plastered everywhere. I felt a surge of indignation, quickly followed by a sense of… flatness.

My usual routine had been completely upended. My sketchbook lay untouched on the table. The canvas waited, cold and untouched. The entire idea of starting something new…

I sat with my head in my hands. The world felt muffled. The phone started ringing again, but I let it go to voicemail.

Eventually, I made a sandwich. At least, that was a small accomplishment.
