Gemotions

The air in the apartment was thick with the scent of stale pizza and unwashed clothes. Sarah sat at her window, watching her neighbor, Mr. Thompson, load a suitcase into his car. He had the kind of life people only dreamed about. It was all so easy for him. She had heard he owned several companies.

Sarah felt a dull ache in her back and a pounding in her head. The idea of getting up, of even changing positions, was a feat. She was already behind on her chores. The thought of doing anything seemed to involve too much energy. She sighed, her gaze returning to the window.

She had to make dinner. She should have gone shopping earlier. She didn't want to do anything. She remained seated, still staring out the window.
