The university's closure was official, the email confirmed. My body felt as though it had been filled with lead. Every muscle ached with the effort of not moving. I knew I needed to start making arrangements, figuring out my next steps.

But first, I needed another coffee. And perhaps a snack. And maybe just a short nap.

I got out of bed, slowly, and shuffled to the kitchen. My apartment was dark and quiet, the perfect environment for a prolonged period of inactivity. The coffee machine gurgled, a gentle lullaby to my unhurried state. My brain felt fuzzy, the thought of any kind of action seemed utterly overwhelming.
