The idea of moving was exhausting. Chloe was already lying down, a blanket pulled up to her chin. The world felt muffled, distant. A persistent ringing sound shattered the quiet. She thought about not answering, hoping the caller would give up. The buzzing continued, and she knew she had to answer. A delivery person stood there with a small, delicate vase of wildflowers. No card. She closed the door, the scent of the flowers already making her eyelids feel heavier. She went back to the couch and curled up, feeling a familiar sense of contentment in being absolutely still.
