“Morning, love,” Chloe said, her voice a little too loud. Her partner, Sam, didn't even acknowledge the greeting. He was wrapped in a blanket on the sofa, seemingly fused to the cushions. The curtains were still drawn, plunging the room into a dim, comforting gloom.

She knew. She'd found the book last night. *Chloe, Uncensored*. The title alone had been a betrayal. She felt a jolt of anger, then a wave of...something else.

He looked so peaceful. She knew he'd been struggling to write, working from home on a schedule. It seemed hard. She thought about trying to talk to him, but the energy expended on that idea was exhausting. Maybe later.
