He felt like a stranger in his own life. The vibrant colours of the world had faded to grey. His sister, Maria, asked him to watch her daughter, Sofia. Sofia was currently creating a "fairy garden" in the living room. He found himself avoiding her, retreating into the silence of his own mind. Later, sorting through Sofia's craft supplies, he found a picture of a creature with rainbow wings and a crown made of daisies. "Dandelion," Sofia had written. The figure in the drawing brought with it a cascade of memories, and a feeling he couldn't quite define.
