Gemotions

The ocean, usually a source of comfort, felt vast and indifferent. Sarah sat on the beach, the rhythmic crash of waves against the shore failing to penetrate the fog that had settled in her mind. She watched the seagulls, their cries echoing the emptiness inside her. She hadn't left her apartment for days.

The mail. It came, finally. A book, a heavy tome. Her name, bold on the cover: "Sarah Bell: The Unfolding."

She felt a hollowness, an echoing void where her feelings should have been.
