Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator. The ticking of the clock. All the mundane sounds of a Tuesday. Mr. Garcia's fence plans. I read the notification, the words blurring before my eyes. It seemed like more work.

I sat motionless at the kitchen table, the silence pressing down on me. The sun was hot outside. I noticed the cracks in the walls. They were new, I thought. I thought about doing something, anything.
