Gemotions

The afternoon light streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. A letter, detailing the fence project, lay open on the table. The words blurred together. I hadn't felt like eating all day.

I stood at the sink, running water over a plate, then letting it sit. I had planned to wash it. The sun was setting, casting long shadows. It was another thing that needed to be done.
