The hum of the refrigerator was the soundtrack to Liam's existence. He'd spend hours staring at the walls, the furniture, the objects that once held meaning. Now, they were just… things.

He tried to read, but the words swam before his eyes. He tried to watch television, but the images blurred. His attention span was nonexistent. He just wanted to shut the world out.
