Gemotions

The house felt too warm, the air thick and heavy. Chloe sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic motion failing to soothe the internal turmoil. The setting sun cast long shadows, painting the world in shades of melancholy.

She watched the neighbors, going about their lives, and felt a pang of envy. The laughter, the busy-ness, everything seemed so… vibrant. She felt herself, by comparison, to be a muted echo.

She hadn't the energy to pick up a book, to call a friend. She simply existed, swaying gently, the air filling her lungs and providing no sense of feeling. The thought of tomorrow filled her with a crushing sense of… nothing.
