The email was another nail in the coffin. Train the replacement. The thought of reliving the routines, of repeating the same information, filled him with a profound sense of… something. He couldn't quite name it. The office felt like a cage. He stared out of the window.

The new hire, a young man with a boundless supply of energy, arrived at his desk, and he felt a knot of dread twist in his gut. He barely acknowledged him, pointing toward the computer. "Log in there," he said, his voice a monotone. He felt the slow, creeping darkness.
