Gemotions

The stale air of the terminal seemed to suffocate Ethan. He leaned against a pillar, his gaze drifting from one point to another, never truly focusing. The delay was a bitter pill. He was supposed to be at his brother's promotion ceremony. Now, all that he could do was stand still.

He felt a deep sense of apathy. He watched the world go by. He had no urge to eat, to read, to do anything. He was simply present.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and stared at the screen, not knowing what to do with it. His whole body felt heavy. He sighed, the sound lost in the general noise of the airport. The disappointment felt like a dull throb.
