A sense of disconnect permeated her actions. She felt as though she were moving underwater, the world muffled and distant. She rose from the table, a sudden wave of dizziness washing over her.

She shuffled back to her bedroom, the silence amplifying the thumping in her chest. She buried herself under the covers. The soft material offered little comfort, and the world outside the blanket felt as though it was fading.
