The office building hummed with activity, a chaotic symphony of ringing phones and hurried footsteps. Ethan, however, stood frozen just inside the entrance, the bustling energy washing over him without impact. He'd been staring at the logo on the building, the name of the company, for at least ten minutes. He and Liam had both submitted their resumes.

His tie felt tight, a physical constriction reflecting the internal one. The interview was in less than fifteen minutes. He felt a profound sense of detachment from his body, as if observing himself from a distance.
