Gemotions

He had been avoiding his reflection in the mirror. The face staring back at him was a stranger, the eyes vacant and dull. He felt as though he was moving through molasses, everything requiring a monumental effort. He knew something was wrong. His wife, Jessica, was different. Her laughter was forced. Her excuses were paper thin. He saw the flash of the screen, late one night. He saw her quickly close the phone. He crept closer. He saw the screen again. A strange number, a list of missed calls. He turned and walked away. The image stayed with him. He felt as though a vital spark had been extinguished.
