Gemotions

The hum of the washing machine was a monotonous counterpoint to the turmoil within. Sarah stared at the swirling water, a mirror of the confusion churning in her mind. Her friend, Jessica, had called earlier, excited, recalling their graduation party.

“It was the best night of our lives! We danced all night!” Jessica had gushed, remembering the joy.

But all Sarah could dredge up was a feeling of suffocating anxiety. She’d been overwhelmed by the crowd, haunted by a sense of inadequacy, and paralyzed by the fear of being judged. When she described her memories, Jessica had laughed, attributing it to nerves and youthful awkwardness.

Sarah felt profoundly alone, adrift in a sea of shared experiences she couldn't seem to connect with. Her world felt out of alignment.
