She hadn't bothered with a shower this morning. Sarah gazed out the window, the rain streaking the glass, mirroring the blur in her mind. The medical clinic's mistake, switching her records with someone else's, had been a blow she couldn't quite shake off.

Her hands, usually busy with a dozen tasks, lay limp in her lap. The familiar ache in her shoulders felt heavier than usual, a leaden weight dragging her down. Even the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a comfort, failed to rouse her.

The appointment to sort it out was tomorrow. Just the prospect of it left a bad taste in her mouth. She wished she could just disappear.
