He was supposed to be working. Instead, Thomas sat at his desk, staring out the window at the rain. A friend request popped up on his screen. It was from Gary, the bully from elementary school. The name triggered a wave of familiar frustration. He considered ignoring it, but then, he was already doing nothing.

His fingers drummed on the desktop, a restless rhythm against the quiet. The office was stifling. He felt as though he was encased in a thick, invisible shell. He leaned back in his chair, feeling the utter lack of motivation to even try.
