Gemotions

The afternoon stretched before him, a vast and empty expanse. He had been so energized, so focused on the preparations. Then, the cancellation. The wind had been knocked out of his sails, the momentum lost. He wandered through the house, each room suddenly feeling unfamiliar, devoid of purpose. He picked up a book, then put it back down, unable to concentrate. The hours began to drag, each tick of the clock a reminder of the joy that wouldn't be. "What's the point?" he muttered to himself.
