The bustling marketplace was a cacophony of sounds, a vibrant assault on his senses. He moved through the crowd, a ghost in a sea of faces. The scent of spices and the chatter of vendors couldn’t pierce the shell of apathy that encased him. Then, a busker began to play, his fingers dancing across the guitar strings, and his voice filled the air. His song. A cover, yes, but the melody, the words. He felt his heart lurch. The energy of the marketplace seemed to drain away, leaving only the hollow echo of his own stagnation. He drifted toward the nearest exit, needing air.
