Gemotions

The concert hall buzzed with anticipation, but he was a stranger in his own body. The crowds, the lights, the sheer volume of sound, all felt distant and muted. He had written the songs that he would soon hear, and the songs of others, all now belonging to someone else. Then, the first chords began to ring out, and it was his song. A rendition he didn’t recognize, yet he knew every note. He sat perfectly still, his hands resting in his lap, the weight of his own existence pressing down on him. The music washed over him, and he did nothing.
