She woke up with a start, the lingering dream a faded echo of what she wanted, what she now couldn't have. The rejection had cut deep, leaving a wound that refused to heal. She looked at her reflection, and the person staring back seemed unfamiliar, etched with a sadness she couldn't name.

She spent the day in bed, the sheets tangled around her legs, a physical representation of her internal state. The curtains were drawn, shutting out the world, isolating her in her own private darkness. She felt so heavy, like the entire world was pressing on her chest, making it impossible to breathe.

She thought of writing, of the joy it had once brought, but the thought now sparked only weariness. The energy was gone, and the future stretched out, empty and barren.
