Gemotions

Her shoulders slumped as she opened the last box in the storage unit, a chore she'd been putting off for weeks. The task, sorting through her uncle's belongings, was like navigating a vast, uncharted wilderness of forgotten memories. She took a deep breath, trying to summon some semblance of enthusiasm, or at least, the energy to simply *start*.

Inside, she found a small, ornate box. Inside, photographs. One showed her uncle, a man she knew as a stern and reserved figure, laughing and arm in arm with a group of friends. It was at a party, and her uncle was holding a drink.

A peculiar sensation of displacement filled her. It was as if a crucial piece of a puzzle was missing, and now the picture was shattered. She just wanted to go home.
