Gemotions

He stared at the blank page, a vast, echoing emptiness. The speech, the party, the whole charade felt like a pointless exercise. He felt as though he were just floating, untethered.

The drive to the venue was a long blur. He felt as if he were underwater, the world muffled and distant. He nodded at the well-wishes as he entered, but their words hardly registered.

He picked at the cake, the sweetness doing little to rouse him. He watched his father, radiant with pride. He felt a pang, something akin to sadness, but it passed quickly.
