The emergency phone felt a million miles away. Sarah ran her hand through her hair, a gesture that spoke of frustration, boredom, and a profound lack of motivation. Her gaze drifted toward the ceiling, tracing the lines of the metal panels.

"This is ridiculous," the man beside her muttered, but she barely registered his words.

She had spent the morning staring at her computer screen, accomplishing nothing. The projects, the deadlines, everything felt pointless, a meaningless exercise in futility. It was all a dreary procession of the same dull tasks.

She closed her eyes and the world within did not change. The bleakness of the outside seemed to permeate inside as well.
