The days were a chore. He'd open his eyes, and each morning he would look at the ceiling, waiting to feel something. Anything. But it never came. He’d start his day, dragging himself through the motions. Eating, working, even sleeping, were all the same. A monotonous routine.

He found the letter tucked inside his usual junk mail. The handwriting, which he recognized, triggered a faint jolt in his chest. The letter contained an apology, written in a shaky hand.

He didn't read it immediately. Instead, he put it on the kitchen table and continued to drink his coffee. He stared at the unopened letter, the words of the apology seeming to hang in the air around him. Hours passed, and the letter remained unopened, a weightless burden in a world that already felt too heavy.
