He clicked on the link. The pictures popped up, and a dull feeling settled in his stomach, a slow, heavy stone. The house looked... different. Smaller, maybe? He couldn't quite put his finger on it. The description mentioned "original hardwood floors" and "a spacious backyard." The house was just a collection of nouns.

He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture he realized he’d been making a lot lately. A lethargic sigh escaped his lips. He should be working, or exercising, or *something*. But his apartment felt like a lead weight, tethering him to the couch.

He thought of calling his sister, maybe. But the effort seemed too much. He stared at the picture of the front door, the same one he'd run through a thousand times. The feeling continued to churn inside him, this sense of having lost something he couldn't quite name.
