Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm inside me. I sat huddled on the couch, the television flickering uselessly. Another day, another missed opportunity. I felt a profound sense of weariness, a deep-seated exhaustion that ran deeper than physical fatigue.

I was flipping through a local magazine when I saw it. "Featured Therapist: Dr. Robert Miller." My chest tightened. Robert Miller. He’d made my life a living hell in high school. The relentless torment, the constant ridicule…it all came flooding back.

I slammed the magazine shut, then picked it up again. The idea of him helping people…it was almost too much to bear. But something, a flicker of morbid curiosity, a desperate desire for something, anything, to break the monotony, drew me in. I grabbed my keys, the air thick with unspoken words and unacknowledged pain.
