Gemotions

The mornings were the worst. Ms. Ramirez would wake up and feel the weight of the day pressing down on her. The students, the curriculum, it was all an endless procession of the same thing.

A package arrived, from a former student named Kevin. He remembered her class well, and had always been one of the harder students to reach. He didn't expect much, but still unwrapped the gift.

Inside the package, he found a small, handcrafted ceramic heart. It was a simple object, but carefully made. The accompanying note read, "I hope you find yours again." She held the heart, the clay warm against her skin.
